PONOKA STORM F.C. WIN BATTLE RIVER MEN'S SOCCER LEAGUE "DOUBLE" FOR 2015 - TWO YEARS IN A ROW!

Ponoka F.C. has put another successful season into their record books.  This year's team defended both the League Championship and Battle River Cup round.   Even with 4 league matches remaining, Ponoka's team  had secured the league championship for the second year running.  Entering the Battle River cup round, they took a bye through the first level of playoffs.  In the semi-final match, Ponoka hosted Diablos from Wetaskiwin, the 4th place team.  Ponoka came out on top of that scrappy match with a 6-2 victory.  That put our Ponoka team into the final against Manluk, the one team considered to be Ponoka's "nemesis".  Ponoka's bench was missing some of their regular starting players.  The match went back and forth with scoring after Ponoka went up 1-0 early on.  Ponoka's winning goal came off a corner kick with a beautifully headed ball that found the back of the Manluk goal.  Final score was 3-2 Ponoka.  Congratulations to our team!!!

PONOKA STORM U14 GIRLS LEAGUE RUNNER-UPS

The U14 girls ended their remarkable  2015 season with a 2-1 shoot-out loss to Camrose.  The Storm girls controlled the play the majority of the game and had some unlucky bounces in the league final Wednesday.  The game ended 1-1 after regulation, which then went straight to penally kicks where Camrose edged Ponoka for the 2-1 win.  Congrats to the Players, Parents and Coaches on a tremendous season.
